honoring
Elliott (Sonny) Burch, Jr.
On Friday, May 10, 2013 Cedar Lane Senior Living Community will present Elliott (Sonny) Burch with the Distinguished Service Award. Mr. Burch has served on the Board of Directors for over 23 years carrying on the legacy of his father F. Elliott Burch, Sr., who was instrumental in founding Cedar Lane over 35 years ago.
"My father was known for his big heart, acts of kindness, and commitment to making St. Mary's County a better place for everyone," stated Elliott (Sonny) Burch, Jr. "Cedar Lane is honoring not only me, but also my entire family, and the memory of my father. It is a special place and it has been a pleasure to be a part of its success."
And the family tradition continues as Sonny's daughter, Sheri Burch Norris, has joined the Board of Directors of the Cedar Lane Senior Living Community. "I am honored to be working alongside an incredible team committed to ensuring Cedar Lane's continued success," said Norris, Burch Oil Marketing Director. "Of course, my family is very proud of dad and grateful that he instilled in us the importance of being of service."
Through the tireless efforts of local churches, government service groups, businesses, and members of the community, the then St. Mary’s Home for the Elderly opened the doors of its first building in 1977. Four years later, the Burch Building went into service. Through very generous gifts from both the Colton Endowment and the Harry and Jeannette Weinberg Foundation, the third building was added in 2001.
Today, the 208 unit apartment complex known as Cedar Lane Senior Living Community serves both the elderly and disabled by providing senior
living with or without supportive services, assisted living, and congregate
housing. For more information about Cedar Lane Senior Living Community, please visit: www.cedarlaneapts.com or call: 301-475-8966.
